Recyclosect Synonymy

Bug, Breaker Bots, Bots, E-pests

Dangers:

Recyclosects were once helpful technology, now however, they are more closely related to a virus, serving only to self replicate. The bugs destroy in use electronics and use the parts to create more of themselves. These so called E-pests mostly work at breaking down the non-valuable parts of old electronics, however they have begun attacking all electronics and somehow, though terrorism is suspected, have begun only replicating themselves instead of building new useful technology as was originally intended.

How to Protect youself:

Buying valuable casing for your electronics is the popular way amoungst the wealthy to safe guard their electronics. Plating ones electronics in, titanium, silicon, gold, silver, or copper is a full proof way of insuring ones valuables are not accidentally ‘recycled’. But for most careful use and cases lined with copper is generally the best way to still be in touch with the electronic world.

How to destroy a Recyclosect:

- Option 1: With your big foot!

o Stomp down on a bot and then twist your foot rubbing out some of the important components in the bot and hopefully disabling its abilities

- Option 2: Electric shock

o Fortunately these buggers weren’t built with much grounding. A steady electric shock of medium voltage and amperage should do the trick in completely frying out the system.

- Option 3: Dump water on it

o Much easier to do than Option 2, but far easier to do logistically. There have even been a few accounts of people taking out large amounts of recyclosects with super soakers.

- Option 4: Wire Cutters

o One of the best ways to disable a set of recyclosects is to cut the antennae of the ‘mother bot’. This method disables on communication between the mother and its drones. This effectively destroys the system and the bug, but just to be sure Option 1,2, or 3 after a wire cutting can really insure the job is done right.

What kinds of Recyclosects are there?

The primary Recyclosect in California is the mother and drone type of bugs. The bugs work in small ‘families’ with a ‘mother’ two ‘big brothers’ and two ‘little brothers’. The mother does the primary locomotion for the group getting the family from point A to point B. Once a target is reached the four children descend out of the mothers ‘pouches’ and work in groups of two to dismantle various electronic recyclables. The primary destroyer is the small spider like bug with coiled copper coming around its body. The primary destroyed works with a carrier that will ferry supplies and broken down parts back and forth to the mother bot. The two other children are refered to as storage bots and contain all the power and recycled materials gathered by the rest of the bug family.

How to destroy a Recyclobot:
Foot stomp, or other blunt force can work. Better is a concentrated electro-shock.

Behaviors of the Recyclosects:
'Mother bot' + 2 'Storage' bots and, 2 'Decomp' Bots 1 carrier and one dissolver
Mother bot carries distances, and then when a target is reached the 4 smaller bots descend from the mother bots 'pouches'
The other four bots work in 2 teams the storage bots carrying the material and the decomp bots breaking and carrying materials between the storage bots.

What is done with the last generation of comupters and technology from America? Generally, it ends up in dumps in Asia for the reclaiming of valuable metals and other parts, basically recycling, but what about the non valuable parts? Tons of rubber and plastic are going to waste, and more importantly being accumulated in vast quantities that are difficult, or impossible to get rid of.

This was a problem of great concern 50 years ago, before the advent of recyclosects. Now, however, there is a new problem, recyclosects. The insects were developed to do the manual labor required to break down and reprocess old recyclables, particularly electronics, into new usable products. Various versions of the recyclobots were made for different materials that needed to be recycled, and programmed to recreate them into specific new objects, for example taking appart an old iPod and reforming the plastic casing into the new, more hip iPod (this recyclobot was particularly popular, while frivolous, but ultimately has served to the demise of the iPod since).

Eventually something went wrong, and no one is quite sure why, but in waves the recyclobots started ignoring their orders to disassemble used, outdated electronics and started persuing all sorts of electronics, reigning chaos over the tech-savvy across the world.

Talks of genetically engineering Honey bees to resist a bacteria infection called 'Fowl Brood' disease which is named after the terrible smell of a hive infected by it. The sort of irony here is that scientists are looking to create a European Honey Bee genome that will replicate those bees that already have a resistance to the bacteria, but if bee farmers start to restrict the Bee genome down to only those who are resistant to fowl brood they have successfully staved off one bacterial infect and welcomed the rise of any other infection. This is because if the genetic diversity is limited down to only those who are resistant to the bacteria the genetic ability to change and adapt to a new bacterial, or fungal infection is greatly reduced.

We are finally Done with our movie project!

The final name we chose for the short movie was Dead Frequency. In total it took up a good 5 gigs on my harddrive, leaving my tiny 40gig partitions with almost nothing left....

The movie ended up turning out well with some incredibly dramatic music we put together a story with no dialogue, but still a clear story line.

This is my choice off the list provided in my art74 class. Every part of Natalie Jeremijenko's project stump is perfect, the often mindless use of printed paper that sends signals to a virus in a computer that informs the user of their waste by producing a cross section of a tree stump to illustrate the loss of the tree that made the paper. awesome.

In this article Mr. Freitas explains that of all the causes of death, natural death is what we should be most worried about due to its numbers in contrast with epic killers of man such as the bubonic plague.

Frietas in response to nature is working on what he dubs a 'respirocyte' a word meaning resiprating cell. He aims to use these machines in conjunction with normal eyrthocytes (red blood cells) to produce superhuman abilities by giving our blood a hightened ability to carry Oxygen and CO2. The resiprocytes work as a pressurized container, so they pump in oxygen molecules and can hold a far higher number than average eyrthrocytes because they are made of what Freitas calls 'diamondoid' material, which is highly durable and can contain a great amount of pressure. Freitas aims to use these machines to heighten the human experience by giving humans the ability to do things such as "...allow a person to hold his breath at the bottom of a swimming pool for up to 4 hours..."

These two articles deal with the phenomenon of people around the world playing MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role playing games) like World of Warcraft in order to make money off of selling in game items and money. The feelings of the players, the people making the money, and game creators are mixed. As far as the regular players go, some don't care, and some are vehemently opposing them. Game creators are mixed as well, some are angry they are not getting a cut of the profits, and others don't care as along as all the players pay their monthly fees.
